Music Recording Studio – The World’s 7 Best Studios

Music Recording Studio – The World’s 7 Best Studios

Is the necessity for professional recording facilities disappearing as home studio setups gain popularity and achieving commercial audio quality becomes simpler?

We don't think so, and we're going to explain why the studios on our list of the top 7 in the world are well worth the money for any kind of recording session.

Abbey Road Studios

London, United Kingdom

Recording Studio

Abbey Road Studios was merely a nine-bedroom home when it was first constructed in 1829. The Gramophone Company later acquired it as a project studio in 1928. They set out to develop the first professional studio that was ever purpose-built, and in 1931 they combined with the Columbia Gramophone Corporation to become Electrical and Musical Industries, eventually to be known as EMI studios.

Rock and roll music first gained popularity in 1958 in professional studio two, which later invited The Beatles to record three albums there. Several great albums have been made possible by the magic of many well-known engineers and producers.

Once the renowned Beatles record gained prominence, the studios were renamed Abbey Road Studios in 1970. Flash forward to 2012, when Universal Music Group acquired EMI for a cool £1.2 billion, and the studios became its property.

Abbey Road studios are currently regarded as the most iconic set of studios going, you can bet virtually everybody has heard of them even if they're not in the music industry. It's no wonder they hold the top slot on our list given their premium equipment and clientele, which includes some of the most illustrious figures in the music industry, like The Beatles, Aretha Franklin, Kanye West, and Lady Gaga. In this recording studio, there is no lack of opportunities for artist development.

Artist Growth is about determining your next steps, no matter what stage you're at. The studios are aware that each artist is unique. Because of this, they modify the area to suit your requirements.

You can establish a highly alluring sound for your song by working with a skilled producer. And as an artist, this is exactly what you would anticipate at Abbey Road.

They provide excellent studio space and recording software locally, as well as a wide range of internet services like vocal tuning, mixing, mastering, and music creation.

One of my favorite features of their online mastering service is that you may choose your own mastering engineer from a list of five Abbey Road-approved mastering experts included in their package, which starts at just £90.

When you master a song in music production, you make sure that the volume is just correct and that the song sounds good on all sound systems before you release it. The mastering process is different from mixing because you are just working with one stereo file and balancing it to create the finished piece of music.

They have a large and remarkable list of in-house equipment. Some of my favorite equipment includes six Bricasti M7 studio reverb processors, which sell for more than £3,000 each, two Yamaha SPX 1000 monitors, an AMS NEVE 88RS recording console, six Yamaha NS10M monitors, the impressive GML 8200 EQ for precise frequency modification and frequency range, and a wide variety of studio monitor speakers that you could only imagine having in a home recording studio.

You will be surprised that the price range can be fairly affordable considering what you get for your money and it’s worth noting that what’s charged to major clients is more than independent musicians and unsigned artists, so always ask if there’s wiggle room on their rates.

Would you like your upcoming song to be mixed and mastered by Grammy Award winners using the latest technology right in your bedroom?

You can get your music to compete with highly commercial releases in terms of audio quality and volume with their new online service starting at just under $200.

Additionally, they provide the opportunity to cut vinyl masters in only two simple online steps, ensuring that you may manufacture a quality album for as little as $600.

created in 1956 Up until 1968, Capitol Records' signed artists were the only ones permitted to use Capitol Studios.

To maintain its status as a cutting-edge, state-of-the-art facility, it underwent recent renovations. The building is 150 feet tall and has 13 levels. The studio is situated on the ground floor in the only rectangular portion of the tower's spectacular cylindrical shape.

Studio A, their largest recording facility, has hosted musicians including Muse, Sam Smith, and Frank Sinatra. Neo-classical masters of maple drums are used in the studio along with a NEVE 88RS 72 channel recording console, 7.1 surround sound capabilities, and an EMT 140 plate reverb.

The eight specially constructed "echo chambers," each with its own distinctive sound to perfect any desired frequency response from its room design and highly precise microphone placement, are another outstanding addition to the studios.

These chambers, which have a maximum reverberation time of 5 seconds and a delay of roughly 3–3.5 seconds, can give your recordings a special high quality.

Even though these rooms and the equipment in their music studios are 20 feet underground, persistent debates have surrounded them over the years since there may be noise complaints, which developers have regularly mentioned.

  1. Coldplay – A Head Full Of Dreams
  2. Adele – 21
  3. Radiohead – OK Computer
  4. Jess Glynne – Take Me Home
  5. James Arthur – Impossible

Although it has a vintage appearance on the exterior, it has been uniquely created with special features and has been utilized by some of the most commercial musicians in the business due to its ability to fulfill high standards and expectations. It also has some beautiful high frequencies.

Musicians on the album include alternative acts including Don Broco, Deaf Havana, and The XX, as well as Dua Lipa, Katy Perry, Fergie, Jake Bugg, Adele, Mumford & Sons, Coldplay, and Jake Bugg.

George Martin founded the studio in 1969 after quitting EMI Records to build a high-end recording facility in the center of London. Since then, it has grown to be one of the most well-known studios in the world.

A companion studio was constructed in the Caribbean in the middle of the 1970s, and it operated successfully until it closed in 1991. Major artists were drawn to it at the time, but it closed in 1989 when a hurricane destroyed the island. When Air Lyndhurst was constructed in 1992, a new chapter for Air Studios began. It has developed into a center for records from major labels and film scores for big-budget movies.

Have you considered submitting your music for use in movies and television? It's crucial to have the proper sync representation, so let Music Gateway assist you in getting your music or sound recording master used in TV or film. Depending on the placement, sync royalties are a useful bonus, but exposure alone may advance your career. In order to hear your music on screen after you have recorded it, all you need to do is contact Music Gateway. Our music supervisors will then walk you through the rest of the process.

Studio 1 contains three guitar amp booths and a 140m fully floated floor. It can cater for up to 45 players and is great for bands. It has a sliding door mechanism that has been carefully created so that the area can be partitioned into acoustically distinct zones.

Air Studios, one of the biggest recording studios in the world, also offers access to Lyndhurst Hall. It has remarkable acoustics and can hold a full symphony with a chorus simultaneously. This is a superb studio with cutting-edge technology and uniquely created features.

Metropolis Studios

London, United Kingdom

Recording Studio

Five albums recorded at Metropolis

1 – Queen – Innuendo

2 – Adele – 25

3 – ZAYN – Mind of Mine

4 – N.E.R.D. – No One Ever Really Dies

5 – The Verve – Urban Hymns

What distinguishes Metropolis from the competition and places it in a special position on our list? For me, it has to be the friendly atmosphere and writing rooms they provide, not to mention the available lodging. With a variety of digital audio workstations, MIDI controllers, midi keyboards, iMacs equipped with Logic Pro X, Waves CLA Vocals, Pro Tools 12.8.1, and other excellent tools, the rooms create a calm and stimulating environment for you to get creative and put ideas into action.

Customers at Metropolis have the option of relocating to their on-site accommodations. The residential alternatives include a private, luxurious split-level apartment with four double bedrooms, two bathrooms (one ensuite), and an open-concept living area that opens to a private balcony with a breathtaking view of the city.

With this choice comes private access to the studios and parking park, as well as WiFi, Sonos, a plasma TV and Apple TV. Not to mention the open-concept living space with a fully functional kitchen and stocked bar.

At Metropolis, even the studio rooms have a cozy, easygoing ambiance that makes guests feel special. The Yamaha C7 7'6" grand piano and the unique SSL 4064 G series console with 60 mono and 4 stereo channels are what I appreciate most about Studio B. You genuinely feel like the driver when seated behind this desk.

The room, which was formerly a recording studio, was a portion of a huge power plant constructed in 1901. The construction of a cutting-edge studio began in 1986 under the direction of sound engineer Carey Taylor.

In the 1980s, recording studio usage began to change, with a greater emphasis on the control room than on the actual music recording area. By making the control room the focal point of each studio, Metropolis took advantage of this and created its signature situation. Kainne Clements, the executive chairman till this day, purchased the studios in 2012.

This is a venue you should look into if you want to record a song in London and be in a setting that feels comfortable, whether recording, writing, or producing.

Platinum Studios

New York City, USA

Five albums recorded at Platinum, New York State

  1. Nelly – Over And Over
  2. Shakira – Shakira.
  3. Justin Bieber – My Worlds
  4. Post Malone – Stoney
  5. Lady Gaga – Artpop

There is something to be said about the exclusivity that goes into making a record. This has to be on the list since studio J's unique sounding area is perfect for recording tight percussion and rich vocals. It has an 80 channel Logic 9000J mixing desk to bring out the best in the sound, and the wooden room has a wonderful, bass-heavy sound.

The fact that studio K is home to the sole solid-state Logic XL9000K in the city adds another element of exclusivity. The likes of Justin Bieber, Shakira, Kanye West, America's Got Talent, MTV, VH1, and Nelly are among its clientele hosts.

Rapper Wyclef Jean and Grammy Award-winning producer Jerry Duplessis established the studio in 2000. The studio's key priorities were sound quality, efficiency, and privacy so that musicians could feel at home and produce the next big hit song.

All reservations include studio time customized to your needs, and the studio has acoustic treatment like most others.

The studios have produced numerous Grammy-winning musicians since they opened and albums that received 12 Grammy nominations in 2010 alone.

The best R&B and pop music in New York has been produced using their specialized recording console, which has won widespread praise. The bespoke Augspurger monitors and dual 18-inch subwoofers that Platinum Studios have make them the loudest and cleanest sounding studio the city has to offer. When recording music, subwoofers typically provide better sound isolation, which enhances the sound quality.

This is the place to go if you want a professional, genuine NYC sound!

Question De Son

Paris, France

Top Five Albums Recorded At Question De Son

  1. Pete Doherty – Flags Of The Old Regime
  2. Babyshambles – Sequel To The Prequel
  3. Alizee – 5
  4. The Aikiu – Fools
  5. Imany – The Shape Of A Broken Heart

The trendy Porte Saint-Denis neighborhood in the center of Paris is the perfect location for this studio. A vocal booth that is visibly connected by video is located in Studio B, along with an SSL 4048 G + console with Complete Recall and Ultimattion.

The trendy studio has been blessed by musicians such as Kanye West, P!nk and Babyshambles and is considered as the go-to destination for trendsetter artists with a character to match.

Jordan Kouby and Frederic Vectol bought the structure as a former textile factory and founded it. They had years of experience working in recording studios, so they weren't really beginners to the music business.

They employed Michel Duluc, an acoustician, to assist them in overseeing the project from beginning to end. The full studio has been thought out in every way from the audio interface to every wall and angle.

A magnificent work of art, Question De Son can achieve true brilliance in sound quality without sacrificing character.

HANSA

Berlin, Germany

Recording Studio

Top albums recorded at Nansa, Berlin

  1. Iggy Pop – Lust For Life
  2. U2 – Achtung Baby
  3. David Bowie – Heroes
  4. Siouxsie And The Banshees – Tinderbox
  5. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds – From Her To Eternity

Artists including KT Tunstall, Depeche Mode, and Green Day have all performed at the Hansa in Berlin, Germany. In 1962, brothers Thomas and Peter Meisel established the Hansa Record company. From 1965 to 1973, they recorded at the Ariola before establishing the current Hansa studio.

Producer Michael Blakey was in charge of most productions in the early to mid-1980s. There have been numerous recordings made by musicians including Tangerine Dream, Iggy Pop, and Snow Patrol.

Mike Christie's documentary "Hansa Studios: By The Wall 1976-1990" on the studio broadcast on Sky Arts in Europe in 2018 and covered its history.

Although they do have the option of online mixing (mix sounds) for €350 per song, their website today appears a little obsolete. The studio itself includes a fantastic live room (ideal for mid-range recordings) and an open vibe that, during the day, is illuminated by natural light from the many glass doors and windows throughout the structure.

With direct visual access to both the control room and the vocal booth, this area is ideal for bands that need to communicate a lot. In order to stay cool and rejuvenated while performing, it is also roomy and feels open plan.

The studio is furnished with a sizable selection of vintage analog equipment and convenient workspaces.
